ClearCorps/ Detroit: LEARCorps/Detroit is a city wide program dedicated to protecting Detroit’s kids from lead poisoning. CLEARCorps/Detroit is operated locally by the Greater Detroit Area Health Council (GDAHC). Established in 1955, GDAHC is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving health for the residents of Southeast Michigan. Through its Division of Community Health, GDAHC supports several community-driven, neighborhood-based health community health projects such as Healthy Detroit, Urban Health Initiative and CLEARCorps/Detroit.

  • Citywide Lead Hazard Reduction Program- The City Wide Lead Hazard Reduction Program will reduce lead-based paint hazards and the conditions that contribute to the Hazards, in single-family, owner-occupied properties. Properties eligible for funding assistance include those where a pregnant woman and children under six years of age live. Properties where children under six regularly visit at least six hours per week are also eligible for funding. For more information please download the brochure.
  • CHILD-HELP Lead Hazard Reduction Program- The CHILD-HELP Lead Hazard Reduction Program remediates lead-based paint hazards and the condition that contribute to these hazards by offering landlords a 36-month, forgivable grant loan. The grants are available for one-to-four unit properties where a pregnant woman and children under six years of age reside. The grant is also available for vacant units that will be marketed to a low-income family, within the 36 month Forgivable Lien Period. For more information please download the brochure.


Detroiters Working for Environmental Justice: DWEJ addresses issues of concern to Detroit and surrounding communities. Among them are: Illegal dumping, Lead poisoning prevention, Air and water quality, Land use and blight, and Access to fresh quality food.

Greater Detroit Area Health Council: The Greater Detroit Area Health Council, as the region’s leading health care coalition, advocates and leads change and improvement in the way health services are delivered, paid for and used within the seven counties of southeast Michigan. The coalition comprises business, labor, health care providers and plans, consumers, government and payers. The Health Council strives for continuous improvement of the region’s health status and of the quality, cost effectiveness and accessibility of health care for all citizens.
