Fundraising
With Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and Carlita Kilpatrick serving as Honorary Co-Chairs and with Michael Tyson, Senior Vice President, Bank One and Dr. Sophie Womack, Neonatologist, Children’s Hospital serving as Co-chairs, the Fund Development effort (Detroit Community Partnership to Eliminate Lead Poisoning) is in full swing:
Grants have been received from the Knight Foundation for $150,000 and the Skillman Foundation for $400,000.
Contributions from the Corporate/Banking Community total over $35,000.
A very successful Mayor’s Reception, held in June 2004, with area contractors, resulting in commitments of over $100,000.
City Connect Detroit leads the fund development effort and has established the fund development collaborative with over 30 prominent members.
A press launch was held in June 2004 resulting in excellent media coverage.
